Gadget Reviewed: Dell XPS 13 High Performance Laptop with InfinityEdge Display

The latest in the 13-inch series by Dell is the Dell XPS 13. Most of the 13-inch flagship launched by Dell in the last couple of years has received an overwhelming response. This Laptop is basically attributed to its sleek design, long battery life, Infinity edge screen and lightness in weight.

To come on par with its competitors, Dell has taken it one notch higher this year with its latest Dell XPS 13 laptop. The Dell XPS 13 comes at a price of $1,299. While the Dell XPS 13 comes with almost the same features as its predecessor, the 7th Gen XPS 13, the battery life has been extended, coupled with a much stronger performance.

Features

The Dell XPS 13 at 2.78 pounds and dimensions  11.98 x 7.88 x 0.6 inches, makes it fairly light and compact.

The design is like most of the previous XPS 13, but a bit more attractive. The top and bottom surface are made of CNC machined aluminium, with a choice of silver or rose gold.  The sides and deck are made from a soft carbon fiber. There is a soft palm rest on the deck for comfort.

Dell XPS 13

The Dell XPS 13 has the Infinity Edge Display. The 1080p and non-touch screen provides for wide  viewing angles and gives detailed images. Since it does not have much bezels on the sides and top of the screen, it provides for a good viewing experience.

The webcam is below the screen on the left corner. This is one feature that does not augur well for the Dell XPS 13. It is placed at an awkward position, which gives an unflattering image of the person while on video call.

On the right hand side of the Dell XPS 13, there is a USB 3.0 port, a SD Card reader and a lock slot. On the left hand side, there is provision for a Thunderbolt 3 port, a charging connector and a mic/headphone jack. Beside the audio jack, there is a battery meter button and five lights to indicate the laptop power. There is a port that enables you to charge the laptop, output to various monitors as well as connect to the USB-C and peripherals with a single cable. The speakers are on the sides, which provide for decent listening either to music or watching videos.

The keyboard on the Dell XPS 13 comes with a soft palm rest offering a comfortable typing experience.

The Dell XPS 13 comes with the new 8Th Gen Core Processor (Kaby lake Chip).

The Dell XPS 13, with a Core i7-8550U CPU, a 256GB PCIe SSD and 8GB RAM, makes it a high speed performance laptop.

The Dell XPS 13 comes with a 1535 AC Wi-Fi card, giving better connectivity.

Review

The Dell XPS 13 can be used for both work and play. The compact, light weight laptop with a backlit keyboard and soft touchpad makes it convenient to use even while you are travelling.

If you are looking for a 8th Gen Core processor, high-speed performance, longer battery life, an Edge to Edge Display, attractive and light weight laptop, then look no further. XPS 13 promises this and much more.
