If you are looking for a slim ultraportable gaming device, then Acer Swift 7 is the answer. The Swift 7 was showcased at the CES 2018 as the thinnest laptop in the world. It is just 8.98mm in thickness and may just be thinner than any smartphone in the market. It is fairly light and comes with a 14-inch touchscreen. The Acer features a backlit keyboard, a big touchpad as well as a fingerprint reader.

Features of the Acer Swift 7

The Swift 7 comes in two colours: all-black and black-on-gold.

The Acer Swift 7 weighs 2.6 pounds as compared with the 2.4pound HP Spectre which could be considered as its closest competitor when it comes to the design. The dimensions of the Swift 7 are 12.91 X 9.33 X 0.35 inches.

The Swift 7 comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB of SSD storage.

There is a backlit keyboard which is good to type on but it has a shallow feel to it while typing.

The Acer Swift 7 laptop comes with a bright 14-inch full-HD display which is touchscreen. The IPS screen offers wide-viewing angles for sharing content when the screen is pushed down 180 degrees. The movies and photos are vibrant when viewing through the CineCrystal LED display.

In order to decrease the side bezel width, the webcam on the Acer Swift 7 is below the display.

The large touchpad offers multi-touch gestures which includes the two-finger scroll. Due to the thinness of the Acer Swift , there is no clicking function offered from the touchpad. Since it does not click down, everything needs to be done through tapping in order to interact with the Windows 10 interface.

The Acer Swift 7 comes with a large screen which can be pushed down to 180-degree at the hinge. It also has 4G LTE support and eSIM built in.

The Swift 7 includes a fingerprint sensor for biometric Windows Hello login.

Acer Swift 7 in comparison with other laptops

The HP Spectre 13 is 10.4mm thick and has a 13-inch display. It is faster with a U-series eight-gen Core i7 CPU as compared to the Seventh Gen Y-series in the Acer Swift 7 laptop. The webcam too is above the display whereas the webcam in the  Swift 7 has the not so good, up-the-nose webcam below the screen.

The Acer Swift 7 has a slower processor as compared with other ultra-slim laptops like the Dell XPS 13, the 12-inch Apple MacBook and LG Gram.

The battery life at 9 hours 41minutes is average and makes the  Swift 7 lie in the middle range for ultra slim laptops.

The LG Gram comes with full-size USB and HDMI ports while all the others including the Acer Swift 7 has the smaller USB-C port.

If you mainly use your laptop for Word documents, creating spreadsheets, social media, e-mail,listening to music or watching movies, then the Acer Swift 7 is the ideal laptop for you.
